Africa-Press – Angola. The general secretaries of the parties MPLA, FRELIMO, MLSTP/PSD, PAICV and PAIGC decided, Monday, to maintain greater political concertation, for a more effective and efficient action in favor of sustainable economic development and the well-being of the respective peoples.
According to the final communiqué of the meeting of the general secretaries of the parties, which were liberation movements, it is necessary to promote and protect the legacy of these organizations that fought against the Portuguese colonial yoke.
They also decided to extend the mutually advantageous cooperation between the political parties of the former liberation movements.
In this context, another aspect highlighted was the creation of effective and permanent lines of communication, as well as the promotion of party-political and parliamentary diplomacy.
These political organizations made it a priority to create an electronic library for sharing the stories and memories of the national liberation struggle.
The general secretaries of the former national liberation movements agreed to adapt the structures of the political parties to the new social dynamics facing the current challenges of globalization.
They decided to create a joint political-ideological training plan for militants and cadres of their political parties.
Under the motto “United by history and in the fight for a better future”, the meeting was attended by the general secretaries of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, of FRELIMO, Roque Samuel, of the PAICV, Julião Varela, and of the PAIGC, António Patrocínio Silva, while the MLSTP/PSD of São Tomé and Príncipe was represented by its secretary for Foreign Affairs.
On the occasion, the MPLA secretary general said that the meeting created an opportunity in matters of political training for staff, action on social networks and management of the municipal process.
He took advantage of the occasion to pay homage to his former companions from African countries.
Paulo Dombolo believes that the relationship between his parties will be renewed from generation to generation.
The secretary general of FRELIMO defended cooperation between the liberating parties for the prosperity of peoples, while Julião Varela thanked the initiative and proposes to do everything to return to power in the 2026 elections.
The chairman of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA), Luís Paulo Monteiro, defended Monday, in Lubango, Huíla province, the revision of the Decree Law on Legal Assistance, as he considers it inappropriate for the current context.
During a working visit to Huíla, where he witnessed the delivery of definitive ballots to 15 lawyers, who join the 235 who provide services in the province, Luís Monteiro said that it was necessary to urgently change this legal instrument, in order to adapt it to the current scenario of the administration of justice in Angola.
He stated that among the aspects to be improved in Decree Law n.o 15/95, of 10 November, there is the revision of the table of fees, since the current one dates back to 1996.
The president underlined that this is the moment to make an amendment to the legislation in this matter, as the lawyers themselves must also review the table of fees, as they often provide services but are paid by the State in an outdated table.
On the other hand, he stressed that the procedural procedure in the country’s courts continues to be the main cause of the “crisis” of the Angolan justice, being, due to several factors, procedural delays the main problem in the sector.
