Africa-Press – Angola. Rehabilitation work on the Castilhos football field, in Ondjiva, southern Cunene province, began this Tuesday, with a consignment ceremony led by the local governor, Gerdina Didalelwa.
Built before independence, with a side bench with capacity for 500 seats, the property already benefited from a restructuring in 2014, with the application of synthetic grass and fence.
The works consist of raising the fence wall, repairing the VIP cabin, benches, electrical system, technical networks such as water and sewage, revising the base of the synthetic grass and replacing it.
The works, valued at 106 million, 541 thousand and 477 kwanzas, will be carried out over a period of six months, by the company Hiper LDA, and supervised by Fiprocom.
Gerdina Didalelwa said that the start of work on the Castilhos football field represents a great gain for the province, which managed to mobilize resources to improve the conditions of the sports infrastructure.
He informed that it was necessary and urgent to rehabilitate the only reference field in the region, which the youth very much clamored to happen, in order to encourage the development of the practice of sport.
The governor recommended that the contractor and inspector work with quality and meet contractual deadlines, for the good of the population.
The province of Cunene has two fields with synthetic turf, located in the city of Ondjiva, as well as 20 “peeled” clay fields at municipal level.
