ITU highlights the work of Angolan engineers

Africa-Press – Angola. The specialist from the International Communications Union (ITU), Ihar Shcetko, praised, this Tuesday, in Luanda, the work being carried out by Angolan engineers in handling the Angosat-2 satellite.

The official was enthusiastic about the ability of Angolan technicians to develop various applications which, according to him, have been useful and which will contribute to the development of the country and beyond.

Ihar Shcetko, who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of the II Workshop on the Regulatory Framework and Space Economy, referred that in the Southern African region satellite infrastructures are important because they can help to a great extent to contribute to the delivery of certain services to people who live in remote areas.

Regarding the workshop, the specialist said that the ITU is working with different countries in the southern African region to help them manage the entire process of frequencies related to satellite services, as well as to safeguard interference that may arise within these services. .

According to him, in the SADC region there is already a number of countries that have several initiatives and the ITU is working with them to harmonize the regulatory framework.

“Several specialists from the SADC region were invited to this workshop, who had heated debates on the subject and we think that it is in this aspect that we will continue and we feel that there is evolution”, he said.

In this II Workshop on Regulatory Framework and Space Economy, the participants exchanged experiences and outlined guidelines, in terms of the issue of the SADC regulatory environment and the international communications union, as well as how to adapt them according to the specificity and characteristics of the countries of the region and international markets.

The event, which brought together experts from the International Telecommunication Union of the Southern African region, had the main objective of exchanging experiences in terms of the space economy and the regulatory environment.
