Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, sent a message of condolences to his counterpart from Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, on the death of former Ivorian President Henri Konan Bedié, which took place on Tuesday.

According to a note from the Press Office of the Presidential Palace, João Lourenço considers that the death of Henri Konan Bedié “leaves an irreparable void among Ivorians”.

The President of the Republic highlights the fact that the former Head of State “has put all his energy and experience into building a safe country, with solid foundations”.

It emphasizes that the action of Henri Konan Bedié started the path of progress, prosperity and well-being of the people of Côte d’Ivoire.

President João Lourenço asks Alassane Ouattara to extend to the bereaved family and friends of the deceased the feelings of condolence conveyed on his behalf and that of the Angolan Executive.

Henri Konan Bédié was President of Côte d’Ivoire from 1993 to 1999.

Became Head of State following the death of Félix Houphouet-Boigny on 7 December 1993.
