Africa-Press – Angola. Thirty-five artists from the provinces of Luanda, Benguela, Cuanza Sul, Namibe, Huambo and Huíla are exhibiting, in Lubango, various cultural products, at an arts fair as part of the 121st edition of the Festas da Nossa Senhora do Monte.

Compared to the previous edition, there is an increase of eight artists, who exhibit works of painting, sculpture, footwear, basketry, earrings, beads, bracelets, pottery, among other artefacts of national culture, whose sale prices range from 500 to 35 thousand kwanzas.

The craftsman from Luanda, Adérito João, said that his presence in Lubango arises from the fact that at this time it allows him to market his products to the maximum extent to local tourists and beyond.

The Huila visual artist, Pascoal Bándua, considered that at this time sharing experience with his counterparts is healthy, allowing it to flow with some regularity.

In turn, the director of the Nossa Senhora do Monte tourist and sports complex, Domingos Fernandes, said that every year the organization creates a space to allow artists to present their works, with a view to giving substance to the event and contributing, in some way, for the diversification of the national economy.

He made it known that the fair started on Thursday (03) will last 27 days and also aims to encourage artists to continue to publicize their artistic works.

The Festas da Nossa Senhora do Monte began to be celebrated in 1901, a replica of those on the island of Madeira, in Portugal.
