Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA’s first secretary in Luanda, Manuel Homem, reaffirmed, this Saturday, the party’s commitment to the values ​​of peace and national unity, with a view to maintaining the Democratic State and the rule of law in the country.

The politician was speaking at the end of a march held this Saturday in the municipality of Belas, in Luanda, in support of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

On the occasion, the first secretary of the MPLA in the Angolan capital called on the militants to “saw ranks around their leader” and to “maintain serenity”.

He stated that “the framework is one of responsibility and commitment to the truth and the people”, adding that MPLA will continue to work for the well-being of the populations.

On the basis of this action by the ruling party in Angola is the intention of UNITA (opposition) to present to Parliament a “file” to hold the President of the Republic accountable, alleging alleged violations of the Constitution and interference in the legislative and judicial powers.

Allegations that the MPLA disagrees with and considers “a strategy to take power outside the institutional and formal political framework”, “subversive agenda” and “political immaturity” to “create chaos in State institutions”.

At the end of the march, Manuel Homem also spoke about the plan to reorganize the MPLA base statuettes and highlighted the political and ideological training actions of the militants.

Organized by the MPLA Provincial Committee in the Angolan capital, the march included hundreds of militants and friends of that political force.
