Diplomat says Africa needs leaders aligned with causes on the continent

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) Miguel Bembe, said that “Africa and the world need a new generation of leaders with deep scientific knowledge, taking into account the reality of their countries and the continent”.

The Angolan representative at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) made the statement at the graduation ceremony of a higher education institution called “New Generation University College”.

The diplomat defended the need for African countries to form their own cadres, aligned with the ideas of the leaders who proclaimed independence, freeing them from what he considered a colonial yoke.

Among the new graduates of the “New Generation University College”, a private higher education institution in Ethiopia, founded in 2002 by academic Matthew Gichile Tura, the Angolans António Lamas Benedito Xavier and André Sozinho Paulo Sócrates stand out.

The first completed a master’s degree in Global Studies, International Relations and Diplomacy, while the second graduated in the same specialty.

Lieutenant General António Lamas is the Chief of Staff of the African Standby Force (FAEA). André Sócrates is a Lieutenant Colonel and works as an analyst for the region. Both carry out missions in the African Union.
