Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Provincial Office for Youth and Sports in Huambo, Jeremias da Piedade Chissanga, assured the local Government’s commitment to creating better accommodation and operating conditions for sports associations, for the development of the sector.

Current infrastructure, belonging to the State, located in the lower part of the city, which houses a good part of the headquarters of the sports practiced in Huambo, is insufficient or reduced, forcing the projection of another one, as a solution, according to the official.

Speaking at the meeting with the president of the Huambo Provincial Tennis Association (APTH), Lino Costa, the director of the governing body for Youth and Sports, added that, to remedy the situation, the authorities in the region intend to build other facilities, to have a more dignified place in the exercise of its attributions.

He also called for greater interrelationship and communication between his institution and provincial associations, in order to resolve issues inherent to the practice, massification and development of sport in all municipalities.

The need for provincial agents to know and implement the basic law of the country’s sports system (Sports Legislation), among others, was also mentioned by Jeremias da Piedade Chissanga.

As for tennis, in addition to acknowledging APTH’s efforts to relaunch the practice of the sport in the province, after more than 20 years inactive, he promised to lend the former facilities (fields) of the Clube de Ténis do Huambo, located next to the multipurpose pavilion “Osvaldo Serra Van-Dúnem”, in the greenhouse garden.

Recently, at the request of APTH, two national trainers were in Huambo, coordinated by Professor Genivaldo Dias, from the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), who taught a course on sports leadership and basic notions of the sport, with the participation of 20 monitors.

The aforementioned lecturers participated in the meeting with the director of the Provincial Office, who is also responsible for the area of Culture and Tourism.

The possibility of building enclosures for the practice of community sports, in some areas of the City Hall, to be implemented, will give rise to great demand from citizens, mainly those for recreation and leisure, who act in inappropriate places.
