Africa-Press – Angola. The 9th edition of the Forum of Municipalities and Cities of Angola (FMCA), which took place on Friday in the capital Huíla, recommended that the Local Administration Bodies of the State implement toponymy, similarly to the Municipal Administration of Jamba.
In the case of the Municipal Administration of Jamba, the process of assigning toponyms began in 2020, with meetings of the Community Consultation and Social Dialogue Councils to define the names of the streets.
The process, which culminated in the approval of toponyms in all social spheres, such as elected spaces, streets, neighborhoods, avenues, based on historical local names, resulting in the approval of 119 toponyms and police numbers that currently allow identifying the localities and enhances the commune’s tangible and intangible heritage.
According to the final communiqué of the meeting, Saturday, the Municipal Administrations must speed up the process of attributing toponyms, so that by the date of the next FMCA the process will be concluded.
Regarding the balance and challenges of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), the participants recommend that, within the framework of the 2024 Budget, the works that were not completed and those that were paralyzed due to financial difficulties be standardized.
According to the participants, due to the disciplined, rigorous and successful way in which the PIIM has been implemented, there is a need to carry out a real analysis of the municipalities, in order to register projects that better respond to the needs of each one and reinforce the commitment to the compliance with deadlines set forth in the embargo documents.
They referred that the PIIM has, so far, 2687 registered projects, with 876 completed and 1430 with physical execution above 70%, constituting a school of learning values of budgetary rigor and execution of the projects registered therein.
The Forum was held by the Ministry of Territory and was guided by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, who addressed, in general terms, the “Strengthening of the State’s Local Administrative and Financial Deconcentration. It had the participation of 18 governors, 164 municipal administrators and guest ministers.
