MPLA vice-president considers Monteiro Kapunga as vertical politician

Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, considered (Sunday), former deputy Monteiro Kapunga, who died on the 12th of this month, in Lisbon (Portugal), a victim of illness, as being a vertical politician with strong convictions that he defended the noble causes of the Angolan people.

Luísa Damião, who was speaking at the tribute, said that the deceased was a resilient businessman who made his contribution to the development of the national economy.

He guaranteed that Monteiro Kapunga will continue to be remembered as a patriot who carried out the tasks entrusted to him with a high sense of mission and on his own merits became a member of the MPLA Central Committee.

He explained that the deceased embraced the ideals of the MPLA from a very early age, and became known as an interventionist deputy and staunch defender of the cultural identity of the Angolan people.

The deputy of the MPLA parliamentary bench, João Diogo Gaspar said that the province of Malanje lost one of its greatest sons who still had everything to give towards the development of the country.

The politician defended the need for the family of the deceased to continue his deeds, in order to honor his good name.

During the wake, several messages of condolence were read.

As deputy of the Provincial constituency, Monteiro Kapunga was in the second and third, as well as the fourth legislature for the national constituency.

After the funeral ceremony, Monteiro Kapunga’s remains were taken to the municipality of Marimba, his birthplace, where he will be buried on Monday.
