Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, this Thursday appointed Teresa Manuel Bento da Silva, as deputy general director of the External Intelligence Service (SIE), replacing Mário António da Costa Dias.

The information was disclosed on the Presidency of the Republic’s Facebook page, adding that before the appointment, President João Lourenço dismissed Mário António da Costa Dias from the post of Deputy Director General of the SIE.

The publication stresses that the President of the Republic decreed the appointment and dismissal after “hearing the National Security Council”.

Under the terms of the Law, the External Intelligence Service is the body destined to the production of information, analyzes aimed at carrying out measures and actions of intelligence and State security.

The action of this body aims, fundamentally, to guarantee the external security of the country, the

preservation of the constitutionally established Democratic Rule of Law and the protection of the population against threats and vulnerabilities.
