OMA holds march to repudiate the act of desecration

Africa-Press – Angola. The Organization of Angolan Women (OMA) holds a march on Saturday (26th) in Benguela province to repudiate the act of desecration of the corpse of a 22-year-old girl, which took place on the 22nd of this month, in the commune of Ebanga , municipality of Ganda.

The Secretary-General of the Angolan Women’s Organization, Joana Tomás, who provided the information at the end of the meeting with the director of the National Institute for Religious Affairs (INAR), Adilson de Almeida, considered the act barbaric.

“We appeal to the police, judicial and traditional authorities of Benguela and the country to clarify this case, condemning the culprits and that the sentence be public, in order to inhibit such actions”, he said.

During the meeting, the two entities also addressed the problem of proliferation of churches and mistreatment perpetrated by religious leaders.

Joana Tomás reported that the organization has received more than 50 complaints from people who have family members undergoing traditional and conventional treatments in false churches turned into hospitals, without complying with the rules imposed by the Ministry of Health.

The OMA secretary was also concerned about the high rate of violence committed against the elderly and children accused of witchcraft, noting that most of these accusations are instigated by pastors of some religious sects.

The meeting between OMA and INAR aimed to address the issue of incest, kidnappings and request the real list of recognized and unrecognized churches in the country..
