Africa-Press – Angola. Three hundred poor families and 530 vulnerable children are supported monthly by the Government of Malanje, through the Provincial Office for Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, with food and social assistance, to minimize their living conditions.

The information was provided by the director of the Office for Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Angelina Camueje, on the sidelines of the Provincial Conference on Social Action.

Without going into detail, he stressed that despite this, there are still notorious difficulties in life in these social groups, adding that the lack of IT and transport facilities, among others, has conditioned the quality of services provided to those assisted.

However, statistical data presented by the deputy governor of Malanje for the Political, Economic and Social Sector, Domingos Eduardo, point out that 10 out of 100 people live below the poverty line, as a result of the global financial crisis and Covid-19, situations that led to many families to vulnerability.

For this reason, according to the official, with a view to reducing the poverty rate, the Angolan Government has been implementing various programs with emphasis on social monetary transfers (KWENDA) and others, embodied in the delivery of monetary values ​​for the acquisition of imputes agricultural products and investment in income-generating activities.

Meanwhile, the municipal administrator of Malanje, Fernandes Cristóvão said that the fight against poverty must involve all the living forces of society.

The event, lasting a few hours, aimed, among other aspects, at analyzing the social situation of the population and seeking solutions to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people.

Aspects linked to the integration of services that contribute to the implementation of the national policy of social action, as well as models for financing social provision programs, were part of the approaches.

The session took place under the motto “Let’s reinforce the intervention of social action, aiming at improving the lives of Angolans” and was attended by municipal administrators, provincial directors, traditional and ecclesiastical authorities.
