Africa-Press – Angola. MPLA militants in Huambo province demonstrated Saturday, during a march, unconditional support for the party leader and President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in actions to promote socio-economic development.

The march, which started in Largo Saidy Mingas and ended at the Provincial Committee of the MPLA in Huambo, along a course of about three kilometers, was marked with messages of encouragement to President João Lourenço, to continue building, with firmness, an Angola of peace , democratic and developed, around the improvement of the living conditions of the population.

In the end, the first secretary of the MPLA in the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, said that the march unequivocally demonstrates that the militants, sympathizers and friends of the MPLA in this region of the Central Plateau of the country are with their party leader, João Lawrence.

He referred that the population of Huambo province is firm in the stability and maintenance of democratic institutions, as well as in respecting the results of the last general elections, held in August 2022.

For the party leader, the results of the last general elections, in which the MPLA and President João Lourenço emerged victorious, demonstrate, without a shadow of a doubt, that the strength of the party lies in the will of the people.

Therefore, Lotti Nolika said “there is no doubt that the initiative of his political opponents to remove the President of the Republic and the MPLA, João Lourenço, is nothing more than a diversionary maneuver, focused on failure and on the tactic of dividing to better reign” .

“Those who feed divisionism are wrong, we will come out of this process more united, cohesive and confident in the normal functioning of institutions, as well as more comfortable with effectiveness in the gear of national democracy” he said.

According to the party, a single people and a single Nation presupposes unity in resolving the population’s problems and placing them at the center of attention, regardless of ideological views.

“A responsible and committed party would be contributing with valuable ideas and suggestions to the common cause, instead of sowing instability and fomenting hate speech and revanchism”, he said.

According to the definitive results of the elections of the 24th of last August, disclosed by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the MPLA obtained, in the provincial circle of Huambo, 308 thousand 731 votes, electing three deputies, from a total of 561 voters, from one million 103 thousand 685 predicted.
