Africa-Press – Angola. The acting governor of Namibe, Anica de Sousa, considered, Monday, that the holding of the Ministry of Transport’s journeys demonstrates, once again, the Executive’s dedication to boosting the economy and promoting a prosperous future for the Angolans.
The Ministry of Transport is promoting, over a period of three days, in the provinces of Namibe, Huíla and Cuando Cubango, the sector’s journeys, which are reflecting the Angolan State’s commitment to overcoming challenges, eliminating barriers and finding effective solutions that allow the growth of companies and their expansion in the international market.
In this process, according to Anica de Sousa, the province of Namibe assumes great importance in the exploration of marble and serves as a logistical platform, where the Moçâmedes railway plays an important role, crossing the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Huíla to Port of Namibe.
“ The creation of the ornamental stone development center in Namibe, as well as the integrated development project in Moçâmedes Bay, demonstrates a vision that goes beyond exploration, also encompassing the transformation and development, not only of the mining sector, but is also a catalyst for tourism in the region and an exponent of the diversification of the economy”, considered the official in declarations on the sidelines of the conference’s ceremony.
He added that important steps are being taken towards a more modern and efficient infrastructure that will allow improvements in port operations, but also in strengthening Angola’s position as reliable business partners on the national and international scene.

For this, he considered it essential that the Moçâmedes railway start, likewise, with the project to expand its operational capacity, so that there is no unused capacity in Saco-Mar, as well as the infrastructure in the entire corridor of the railway line.
“ The southern region has a great potential for mineral resources, with abundant geology to be worked on. For this reason, this industrial branch deserves attention regarding the upcoming challenges, with regard to infrastructure and growth”, he advanced.
The Minister of Transport, Ricardo D`Abreu, witnessed the opening of the event, a similar act that will take place in the province of Huíla.
