Africa-Press – Angola. The National Team disputes the qualifiers from 17th to 32nd of the World Basketball Championship, which starts on Thursday in Manila, after finishing the regular phase in third, with 4 points.
The national combined lost this Tuesday against the Dominican Republic, by 67-75, and was third, due to the victory of Italy over the host Philippines. A defeat by the Transalpines would put Angola in the title stage.
In the classification of group A, the Dominican Republic (first with six points) and Italy (second with five points) advanced to the next stage. Angola (third with four) and Filipina (fourth with three), play the qualifiers.
The Angolans will compete in the qualifiers along with all the third and fourth placed teams in each of the eight initial groups, while the first two qualifiers will be distributed in four series.
Angola debuted with a defeat against Italy (67-81), beat the Philippines (80-70) and lost to the Dominican Republic, by 67-75, in the game of the 3rd and last round of the initial phase (group A) of the world event, qualifying for the “Paris`2024” Olympic Games.
