Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Monday, congratulated the People and Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe for holding the Harmonized Elections, on the 23rd and 24th of August of this year, aimed at choosing the President of the Republic , Parliament and Representatives of Local Governments.
A note from the Support Services to the President of the Republic refers that the Statesman, in a message to the President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa, also welcomed the environment of peace and tranquility in which the voting process took place, as witnessed by the various Observation Missions Electoral.
The missive adds that this is a demonstration of the maturity and resilience of the Zimbabwean people, despite the socio-economic adversities that the country faces, resulting from the long period of international sanctions imposed, and more recently by the post-pandemic environment of COVID-19 and of the harmful effects of the European conflict.
João Lourenço salutes the President-elect and the party, and encourages other political actors to observe what is constitutionally enshrined, as well as the laws and rules of elections.
