Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, recommended, this Wednesday, the staff of the External Intelligence Service (SIE) to keep their “eyes open” to everything that is happening in the world, especially in terms of stability and security.

The Head of State made the statement when granting office to the new Deputy Director of External Intelligence Services, Teresa Manuel Bento da Silva, recently appointed by Presidential Decree.

In a brief speech, President João Lourenço recalled that today’s world is increasingly troubled and marked by conflicts of all kinds.

“This morning we were surprised by some instability that reigns in the Republic of Gabon, a sister country right nearby”, said the Angolan statesman.

The announcement was made in a press release read on the television channel “Gabon 24”, by about a dozen Gabonese soldiers, after which the country’s borders were closed.

As for the External Intelligence Service (Angola), it is the body destined to the production of information, analyzes tending to carry out measures and actions of intelligence and State security.

The action of this body aims, fundamentally, to guarantee the external security of the country, the preservation of the constitutionally established Democratic Rule of Law and the protection of the population against threats and vulnerabilities.
