Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, travels this Sunday (03) to Nairobi (Kenya), to participate in the African Summit on Climate.
The event will take place from the 4th to the 6th of September under the motto “Boosting Green Climate Growth and Climate Financing Solutions for Africa and the World”, indicates a press release from the Support Bodies to the Vice-President of the Republic.
The Summit is intended to be a platform that aims to deliberate on the relationship of Africa’s development and the need to drive greater investment for climate action globally and, specifically, for Africa.
The event is expected to bring together around 30,000 participants, including African Heads of State and Government, African Ministers of the Environment, Agriculture, Energy and Finance, as well as various civil society partners.
The Summit, which is held in coordination with the African Union Commission (AUC), is expected to adopt the Nairobi Declaration of African Leaders on Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions.
Among other objectives, the major event aims to converge on common priorities for global discussions, including COP28, as well as defining and stimulating reforms of the international financial architecture, sharing innovation and deepening the understanding of the challenges and opportunities around the climate agenda.
The organization hopes that the Summit will contribute to the continent’s green economic transformation process, the optimization of its natural human resources, as well as the adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
