This month, the Ministry of Transport and a consortium of Dutch companies will sign an agreement for the creation, in the country, of a cold chain that will connect national farms to the Netherlands and Europe, via the ports of the two states, as well as a fruit logistics center, informed, yesterday, in Luanda, the new ambassador of that European nation in Angola, Tsjeard Roelf Hoestra.

The diplomat gave the information to the press, after presenting his credentials to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in Cidade Alta. Tsjeard Roelf Hoestra did not specify in which province of the country the project will be implemented, but left open the possibility of it being born in the Lobito corridor.

The ambassador said he had chosen the strengthening of economic relations between the two countries as one of the priorities of his consulate.

“We want to strengthen the good relations that already exist and our objective is to collaborate in the area of ​​Agriculture, in ports and in the cold chain”, he stressed.

The cold chain, also known as the cold chain, is the entire process from design, through storage, to product transport, preserving all refrigeration conditions and ensuring conservation.

The cold chain is normally composed of a specialized team, equipment, warehouse, transport and temperature control. It is considered indispensable for a society, as it allows food to reach the final consumer in good condition.

Presentation of credentials

The new Dutch ambassador to Angola was part of 11 ambassadors who presented, between the morning and afternoon periods, the credentials to the President of the Republic, seven of whom were residents and four non-residents.

Residents include Spain (Manuel Maria Lajarreta Lobo), Netherlands (Tsjeard Roelf Hoestra), United Kingdom (Roger Stringer), Israel (Shimon Solomon), Portugal (Francis co Durão Ferreira Alegre Duarte), United States (Tulinabo Mushingi) and Palestine (Jubrael George Bishara Shomali). Non-residents include Somalia (Mohamed Ali Mire), Bulgaria (Maria Pavlova Tzotrkova-Kaymaktchieva), Malawi (Margaret Constance Ka-moto) and Bangladesh (Masudur Rahman).

The first to present the credentials was the Spanish ambassador, Manuel Maria Lobo, who pointed to the strengthening of relations between the two States, with emphasis on the economic and political domains, as a priority of the mission. “I believe that we have a promising future, given the growth of Angola in the international community, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa”, he stressed.

Manuel Maria Lobo referred that the meeting with the President of the Republic also served to talk about the situation between Russia and Ukraine. “It was a very interesting and pleasant conversation,” he clarified.

The other ambassador who also presented the credentials was that of the United Kingdom, Roger Stringer, who chose five priorities in the relationship with Angola, with economic being the first of all.

The other areas chosen were Environment, Education, empowerment of women in issues important to the UK and, finally, support for democracy and freedom.

“These are very fundamental issues for us,” he said. In the Education chapter, the ambassador said that the United Kingdom has provided 120 scholarships and supports the country, every year, to achieve quality education, especially in the training of girls.

In a nutshell, the Israeli ambassador, Shimon Solomon, said that he will focus, among other areas, on Defense and Security.

The one from Portugal in Angola, Francisco Duarte, said that he would bet on strengthening existing relations between the two countries, with emphasis on the areas of Education, Justice, Health, Defence, Culture, language promotion, dialogue and political and diplomatic consultation, within the framework of the CPLP, the United Nations and the European Union.

Francisco Duarte said that actions to support the process of economic diversification underway in the country are also among the priorities. “What we want is to create, together with Angola, a space of shared prosperity, in which our companies, our community, the Portuguese-Angolan community, help to create wealth and employment for our people,” he said. .
