Africa-Press – Angola. Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, Monday, inspected the ongoing construction of the future provincial field hospital in Cuando, which will have a capacity of 150 beds.

The hospital will be built on an area of 7,200 square meters, with groundwork already progressing well.

Francisco Furtado, accompanied by the governor of Cuando, Lúcio Gonçalves Amaral, led a ministerial delegation that also inspected the ongoing earthworks on the Lievela (Cuito Cuanavale)/Mavinga section of the EN-280 national highway.

The ministerial delegation also visited the finishing works on the future headquarters of the Cuando Government, as well as the area where construction will soon begin on the future capital city of Cuando, Mavinga.

Regarding the construction of the provincial field hospital, Minister of State Francisco Furtado, speaking to journalists at the end of the visit, said that the objective is to create a base for the assembly process, which will take place shortly.He added that the hospital unit will have adequate infrastructure in terms of support areas and laboratories, ensuring that Cuando has the capacity to assist the population.

Regarding the facilities of the future seat of government, he noted that Cuando is a new province, hence the need for adequate accommodation for its employees.

He mentioned the imminent start of infrastructure work for Cuando’s first capital city, with construction teams expected to arrive in Mavinga shortly to present the project and financing for the site where the first airport for the provincial capital will be built.Regarding the construction of the Cuito Cuanavale/Mavinga section, Francisco Furtado confirmed that construction is underway, with two of the three companies involved in the road’s construction already present in Cuito Cuanavale.

He also confirmed the installation of the construction sites in Cuito Cuanavale for the companies that are continuing the earthmoving, leveling, and clearing of the roadside along the section.

Francisco Furtado emphasized that the most important aspect of this entire process is the fact that the works have already been awarded to three companies, ensuring due speed.

The delegation included the Ministers of National Defense and Public Works, as well as the Secretaries of State for Health, Energy and Water, and Territorial Administration.
