Governor aims to boost Malanje’s economic base

Africa-Press – Angola. Governor Marcos Nhunga, pointed out this Thursday the need to boost the economic base of Malanje, with the exploitation of local resources in the sectors of agriculture, agro-industry, livestock and tourism.

The leader, who presented the concerns and challenges of the local government for the five-year period 2022/2027, to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, explained that, with the exploration of these branches, Malanje will be able to contribute significantly to the collection of revenue for the country.

According to the government official, tourism is one of the sectors that should be leveraged with the construction of support infrastructures in tourist areas, whose public-private partnership would be one of the best options for its progress.

He highlighted as priorities of the action program the recovery, expansion and improvement of the road network at provincial level, within the scope of the approval by the Executive of 400 kilometers of roads and the construction of a ring road in the city of Malanje, aiming to alleviate road traffic.

He considered it essential to complete the earthworks at the municipal headquarters of the communes, within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), in order to improve the image of the districts and facilitate the flow of products from the countryside to the city.

He highlighted as priorities the provision of energy and water from the public network in 10 of the 14 municipalities in the province, whose structural projects are underway to reverse the situation.

He said it was necessary to equip health centers and educational establishments built within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) with equipment and technicians, to be placed at the service of the population.

The governor asked for speedy resolution of health problems, with emphasis on the Malanje Regional Hospital, which lacks rehabilitation, an emergency bank and laboratories, as well as requesting the placement of specialists in health centers built in the city’s neighborhoods. of Malanje, for ways to relieve the largest health unit in the province.

The President of the Republic, who chaired a meeting with members of the provincial government and assistants to the Holder of Executive Power, watched a video that illustrated the difficulties and achievements of the local government.

In fulfillment of his work agenda, the President of the Republic visited an agricultural fair.

On the first day of work in the province of Malanje, João Lourenço visited the Bioenergy Company (BIOCOM), dedicated to the manufacture of sugar and the Quizenga Lutete farm, enterprises located in the municipality of Cacuso .
