Africa-Press – Angola. The awareness campaign about the new traffic management measures in the province of Luanda, aimed at motorcycle taxi drivers and truck drivers, will last three months, Governor Manuel Homem announced Sunday.
The government official organized, via zoom, a consultation meeting with the directors of the Police, Inspection and associations linked to transport in Luanda.
According to Manuel Homem, the awareness period aims to bring understanding to all stakeholders, in particular motorcycle taxi drivers and truck drivers, about the recently announced measures, reasons and benefits for citizens.
He explained that this awareness phase could be extended, if justified, during periodic consultation meetings with associations.
He reiterated his commitment to dialogue with associations, in order to receive contributions on possible measures to improve traffic in Luanda.
In turn, the chairman of the board of the general assembly of the Association of Road Freight Transporters of Angola (ATROMA), António Martins, praised the gesture of dialogue to find an amicable solution together in the face of the situation that has been going on in recent days.
He said that any measure to be taken must be accompanied by the conditions that support it.
Therefore, he spoke about problems with lighting, signage, security and the removal of wholesale warehouses from the city.
