Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba,in Caxito, considered the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal (TOBD) an asset for the development of the province and the country.

When speaking during the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to TOBD, the governor said that the infrastructure will contribute significantly to the development of the country’s oil industry.

He said that the project will also allow for an increase in the storage capacity of petroleum derivatives, guaranteeing their self-sufficiency throughout the national territory and saving financial resources with imports.

The minister thanked the President of the Republic for his personal engagement in the search for solutions that aim to improve the living conditions of Angolans, and expressed his satisfaction to Sonangol for having conceived such an imposing project in the province.

TOBD will give a new image to the locality and the industrial hub will provide several jobs for local youth who are longing for a job opportunity, he said.

He reiterated the continued support of the Provincial Government of Bengo to the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Sonangol and Odebrecht in the implementation of the project aimed at the well-being of the populations.

TOBD is a structuring work for the national oil sector with strategic relevance for the country, given its role in strengthening national energy security.

The project was relaunched on December 1, 2021 and currently has 2,847 workers from all provinces of the country.

TOBD has a national workforce of 96 percent, 11 of which are women, 135 certified welders and 115 graduates.
