Angolan embassy in Senegal prepares free consular registration

Africa-Press – Angola. Angolans residing in the Republic of Senegal will benefit, for the first time, from a free consular registration campaign, in an initiative of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission, which will last seven months, from 2 October this year to 4 April 2024, to allow for the greatest possible adhesion.

According to a note from the Angolan Diplomatic Mission on Monday, hard work was carried out with the community, which was characterized by consultation meetings, recording concerns, identifying and locating citizens.

The starting aspects of the free registration campaign were agreed on this Monday (11), in a meeting held between the Angolan ambassador, Adão Pinto, and the president of the Association of Angolans Residents in this country, José da Costa Ramos.

According to the ambassador, much of the attention must be dedicated to the community, as it is one of the Mission’s priorities, therefore, “this free registration campaign is necessary after the basic work and evaluation of the community in Senegal has been carried out, which is estimated at more than 200 Angolans”.

The president of the association, José da Costa Ramos, praised the initiative and said that this step will help to alleviate different difficulties that some Angolans go through when it comes to the documentation aspect.

The aforementioned campaign will take place within the scope of one of the different responsibilities of the Diplomatic Mission, which consists of controlling and monitoring the community under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, as well as the 1963 Convention on Consular Relations .
