Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Territory, Dionísio da Fonseca, assessed this Wednesday, in the municipality of Mavinga, in Cuando Cubango, the level of execution of infrastructures within the framework of the Implementation of the Political and Administrative Division (DPA).
Speaking to the press, the official explained that the municipality of Mavinga is being designed to be the capital of the future province of Cuando, within the scope of the new Political-Administrative Division, and there is an urgent need to carry out technical work to assess the conditions objectives of the region.
The government official explained that given its territorial extension, the province of Cuando Cabango will be divided into two, with the municipality of Mavinga being able to be elevated to the category of capital of Cuando.
In order to achieve this goal, he said, it is necessary to evaluate all objective conditions to develop territorial planning instruments for the construction and expansion of administrative and social equipment, intended for the local population.
Among the equipment in question, those under central jurisdiction stand out, such as administrative residential complexes and others in progress included in the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
Dionísio da Fonseca assured that a package of services is planned such as structures to accommodate the future provincial government, municipal administration, delegation from the Ministry of the Interior, among others that will form the capital of the future province of Cuando.
The minister also visited the Lomba river falls, declaring that they have potential for generating and supplying energy and water.
However, he admitted that verification by specialist staff from the Ministry of Energy and Water could be more conclusive for the eventual use of water.
Asked about the expected dates for the implementation of the DPA, the Minister of the Territory, Dionísio da Fonseca, stated that preliminary work is underway, which began with a broad public consultation, preparation of the proposed Law, which should be assessed by the Council of Ministers, subsequently by the National Assembly, and only then come into force for effective implementation by the Executive.
For his part, the governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, considered that the implementation of the DPA program will bring more efficiency and speed in responding to basic social services closer to the populations, as it will make it possible to reduce distances, reduce asymmetries and bring the relationship between rulers and ruled closer together.
