Africa-Press – Angola. The population of the province of Bié recognizes and praises the contribution of national hero António Agostinho Neto in the fight for national liberation and the achievement of Angola’s independence, on November 11, 1975.

Speaking on the matter, the provincial secretary of the Social Renewal Party “PRS” in Bié, António Armando, considered Agostinho Neto as a fearless man, who always put the ideals of the country first.

“Today we miss the national hero, who said “The most important thing is to solve the people’s problems”, he said, urging the new generations to listen and share his speeches, in order to publicize and enrich his achievements.

The politician urged the provincial government to continue investing in the social and economic sector, with emphasis on agriculture, education and health, with a view to combating hunger and poverty within families.

The secretary of the Provincial Association of People with Disabilities in Bié, Higino Saculombo, considered the publicity made about Neto’s achievements to be insufficient, especially in schools and more remote areas.

For him, it was thanks to Agostinho Neto’s commitment and wisdom that Angolans woke up to development, with investments in the education, health, industry, agriculture and other sectors.

In the municipality of Chinguar, first and second cycle students were called to revisit the trajectory of Agostinho Neto, in the cultural and political dimension.

The acting municipal administrator of Chinguar, José César, who spoke during the lecture on the “Life and Work of Neto”, advised the students to strictly follow his teachings, so that they can, soon, serve the country with dignity.

He said that Agostinho Neto, from an early age, was a defender of social justice, a doctor and humanist, a man of wisdom, and urged students to follow his example and be true participants in Angola’s growth.

To celebrate the anniversary, the MPLA in Bié will promote, on Friday, a Round Table on the Life and Work of the First President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto.

The event will debate “The contribution of Dr. António Agostinho Neto in the history of the MPLA and the country” and “The role of the MPLA as a National Liberation Movement in the fight for National independence”.

The province of Bié hosts the central event of National Hero’s Day (17 September), to be celebrated under the motto “Together for the Development of Angola”.
