Africa-Press – Angola. Nine thousand and 908 families in the municipality of Cuvelai, in the province of Cunene, will benefit, later this year, from the “Kwenda” Social Protection Strengthening Program, characterized, among others, by monetary transfers to families in vulnerable situations.

According to the head of the Local Development Institute (FAS) in Cunene, Eduardo Silunda, citizens will be registered by 30 Community and Health Development Agents (ADECOS), in order to receive the quarterly amount of 33 thousand kwanzas, for each household.

Eduardo Silunda, who was speaking (Saturday) at the launch of the project in this location, said that the municipality is complex in terms of access, so the process will cover, in the first phase, the areas furthest from the municipal headquarters, namely Cubati, Calonga and Mupa, ending in Mukolongodjo.

The municipality of Cuvelai is the fifth, of the six that make up the province, to be covered by kwenda, after Ombadja, Curoca, Namacunde and Cahama. That leaves Cuanhama.

In addition to monetary social transfers, the program includes components of productive inclusion, municipalization of social action and the reinforcement of the single social register.

It expects, over three years, to benefit one million and 608 families across the country and has global financing of USD 420 million (320 million allocated by the World Bank and 100 million by the Executive).

The municipality of Cuvelai has 57,398 inhabitants and is made up of the municipalities of Cubati, Mukolongodjo, Mupa and Calonga.
