Africa-Press – Angola. An exhibition fair, called “Literary Crusade on the life and work of Agostinho Neto” has been held since Thursday, by the municipal directorate of Tourism and Culture of the Viana administration, in Luanda.

The activity is part of the celebrations of National Hero’s Day, which is celebrated on September 17th, and includes other cultural, recreational, academic and sporting events.

Running until Sunday, in the municipal administration garden, the fair brings together around 20 exhibitors, including bookstores, publishers, writers and literary projects, among which the presence of the young writer Beni Dya Mbaxi, author of the book “A last Masoxi”, awarded internationally.

When opening the event, the Municipal Administrator, Demétrio de Sepúlveda highlighted that the activity aims to bring together connoisseurs and lovers of literature and reading, as well as creating opportunities for the habit of reading. He advised the population to take advantage of getting to know the work of Neto and others writers, and exchange opinions on various books.

“Neto’s poetry was written at a difficult time in Angola, and called for effort and sacrifice and gave some guidance. If young people read Sagrada Esperança, understanding the current reality well, they can be inspired and change a lot of things. Besides, whoever reads a book will never be the same person again”, he concluded.

The Literary Crusade also has other attractions such as moments of poetry, literary circle, poetry, music and dance festival, as well as the presentation of literary projects.
