Africa-Press – Angola. The capacity for achievement of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, based fundamentally on resolving the people’s desires, was highlighted Saturday, by citizens in Malanje.
Speaking about the Importance of September 17th, citizens highlighted the different facets of Neto, as a politician, poet and humanist, who always fought against the Portuguese colonial regime.
For politician Ananias Gomes, it is necessary that Angolans continue to seek inspiration from the ideas of Agostinho Neto, with a view to building an increasingly united and developed nation.
He stressed that the Founder of the Nation left, in his writings, the foundations for the construction of an ideal country, which is why everyone must interpret and materialize his political thought.
On the other hand, he acknowledged that there is little work on publicizing the figure of António Agostinho Neto, a trend that he said is urgent to reverse, so that current and future generations know about his political, social and cultural journey.
In turn, João da Silva, considers it time to “roll up” his sleeves and work more for the benefit of citizens, as it constitutes the basis of the Poet Maior’s political thought.
MPLA activist Joana de Matos advocated continued investment in the binomial doing-communicating, in favor of open and trustworthy governance.
He encouraged the President of the party to remain firm in the fight against corruption, in order to attract more and more investors to the country and create the basis for sustainable development.
The radio debate on the Importance of September 17th was promoted by the MPLA Provincial Committee, within the scope of National Hero’s Day.
For the 17th, the MPLA activity program reserves the laying of wreaths and cultural activities.
