Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, recognized Saturday, in this city, the vision and actions of the first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto, which allowed the country to become a free and sovereign nation.
Speaking at a round table on the National Hero, he recalled that the history of the fight against the colonial yoke is full of notable personalities, but Agostinho Neto stands out for his strategic vision.
In this perspective, he also recognized the achievements of other nationalists such as Queen Njinga Mbandi and King Mandume.
Archer Mangueira appealed to youth to follow the example of patriotism of these figures, to transform the country towards development, consolidate peace and democracy.
The round table panel, made up of a range of local personalities who crossed the path of the Founder of the Angolan Nation, made the audience travel with memories about the experiences of the first President of Angola, where some participants were unanimous in considering Agostinho Neto as a “revolutionary from the first hour”, honorable, humble and a man of forgiveness.
In the activity, which is part of the National Hero’s Day commemorative program, which takes place on Sunday, members of the government, civil society, businesspeople, deputies and students participated .
