Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, reiterated today, Sunday, the transmission of the values ​​of independence to young people, with a view to defending and honoring the legacy of the protagonists of this heroic feat.

Intervening in the act of laying a wreath in the Jardim da Liberdade, in salute to National Hero’s Day, which is celebrated today, the government official said it was necessary to pass on to young people the sacrifice made by national heroes, with emphasis on Agostinho Neto, in favor of of achieving independence and national unity.

Along this path, he called for the engagement of all Angolans in actions aimed at improving the living conditions of the population, as this is the assumption that guided the fight against the colonial yoke.

“Independence came about for this, so that we can work so that the people feel the results of a better Angola”, he added.

In an allusion to the famous phrase by Agostinho Neto, according to which “agriculture is the basis and industry the decisive factor”, Marcos Nhunga made it known that the Provincial Government has been working on the revitalization of this sector, which has allowed the emergence of more projects family and business agriculture.

He recalled that Malanje has vast agricultural potential, capable of contributing to the country’s food self-sufficiency.

For today, according to the Provincial Government’s program, a documentary on the Life and Work of Agostinho Neto is also scheduled to be shown, taking place at the Rei Ngola Kiluanje Media Library, with the participation of distinguished guests.

National Hero’s Day, which takes place on September 17th, is an Angolan celebration, in memory of the founder of the Nation and first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto.
