Africa-Press – Angola. One billion, 121 million 925 thousand 738 kwanzas have been spent since last August on containing and stabilizing ravines in the municipalities of Lubango and Caconda, in Huíla.
These are three ravines that threatened to cut off National Roads (EN) 105 and 354, connecting with the center of the country.
They are part of a group of 17 active ravines that the province of Huíla has, all three of which were in a phase of accelerated progression and also threatened the cutting of the EN 105 and the collapse of residences in the Tundavala Stadium area, during the rainy season.
In Lubango, the containment and stabilization of two ravines is being carried out, the first is in the Tundavala Stadium area, with a length of 600 meters, budgeted at 185 million kwanzas, already with a physical execution of 32% and a financial execution of 15 %.
In it, a rectangular canal is being built with a section defined as two meters wide and the same number in height.
The second ravine measuring 19 meters is located on National Road 105, on the Hoque River, budgeted at 446 million 925 thousand 738 kwanzas, with execution of 29% and financial 15%.
In the municipality of Caconda, the one that progresses along the Uaba river, with 502 meters, on the EN-354, in the Caluquembe/Caconda section, is being stopped, budgeted at 490 million kwanzas.
Speaking to the press, apart from the assignment of the contract for the containment and stabilization of ravines, in the Tundavala Stadium area and on EN 105 and 354, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, highlighted that the action makes part of a national program.
He highlighted that the country has 742 active ravines listed to date and every time the Ministry has some resources, in conjunction with the provincial governments, the assignment of drainage works is a priority.
“As we saw with the EN 105, it put the Huíla and Benguela connection at risk, so it was urgent to carry out this act and other acts will follow also depending on the resources we have, but our visit to Huíla includes other priority actions ”, he alluded.
