Africa-Press – Angola. With 5.5 points, International Master (MI) Amorim Agnelo, from 1o de Agosto, reinforced his lead in the absolute National Chess Championship, by defeating, this Wednesday, in the 7th round, the specialist from Núcleo Giga, Josemar Cagingano.

Agnelo is the fourth athlete in the National Ranking, with 2183 Elo points (playing strength), in a list led by David Silva (2347), the latter holder of the trophy and the main absentee from the event.

On Thursday, the leader of the competition, which takes place in the Swiss system, at the National School of Technical Training of the Social Service of Angola (ENFOTSS), in Cacuaco, will face the chess player from the Macovi School, Domingos Júnior, from 10 am, to the 8th round.

Sérgio Miguel, second in the classification, with 5 points, faces Adilson João (Núcleo Giga).

Even wednesday (20), also for the 7th round, in women’s, MI Esperança Caxita, three-time African junior champion (2013, 2014 and 2016), beat Specialist Olga da Costa, maintaining second position, with 5.5 points .

MF Ednasia Júnior, from Escola Macovi, defeated her teammate, Ana dos Santos.

In the next round (8th), Thursday, at 10 am, Esperança Caxita will face the Macovi School athlete, Cláudia Andre.

The leader, Ednásia Júnior, also with 5.5 pts, beat the Master Candidate (CM), Delfina João (Chess School).

32 male and 16 female athletes from nine provinces of the country participate, namely Luanda, Malanje, Benguela, Cunene, Huambo, Moxico, Namibe, Lunda Sul and Uíge.
