Africa-Press – Angola. An Angolan delegation, led by Ombudsman Florbela Araújo, is in Rome (Italy) to participate, from 21 to 22 September, in an International Conference of Ombudsmen – Ombudsmen, which takes place under the motto: “The role of providers of justice in the world, from reality to possibility”.
According to a note from the Angolan diplomatic representation in this country this Thursday (21), the event, of international prestige and legal value, is organized by the national coordination of Italian civic defenders, under the sponsorship of the Senate of this country, and the opening session was chaired by the President of the International Council of Lazio, Marino Fardelli.
At the event, Ombudsman Florbela Araújo presented the theme: “Ombudsman a bridge between citizens and local authorities”, during which she addressed the Angolan experience.
Throughout her intervention, Ombudsman Florbela Araújo highlighted the general responsibilities of the Angolan ombudsman’s office, the mechanisms for interconnection with the citizen and the processes it carries out on its own initiative, in order to seek justice for the citizen, within the realization of rights fundamental.
In his intervention, he mentioned that, in addition to functioning as a point of connection between the public authorities and the citizen, “the Institution he directs is an instrument for guaranteeing access to justice for the citizen in relation to the public administration and other public entities”.
Also at the opening of the meeting, the Roma Capital advisor for Personnel Policies, Decentralization, Participation and Territorial Services, Andrea Catarcci, said that the figure of the Ombudsman must be included in schools, to raise awareness and reinforce the intervention dialogue network and the everyone’s work.
Andrea Catarci highlighted that “in participatory democracy, ombudsmen have a role in ensuring the protection of human rights, being able to strengthen institutions and guarantee the impartiality of policies and administration”.
Participating in the event are Ombudsmen from different countries, ambassadors accredited in Rome, politicians and members of civil society.
Ombudsman or Ombudsman is an entity that exists in several countries around the world with the main task of mediating disputes between citizens and other powers, public or private, finding solutions to the problems presented.
