Africa-Press – Angola. The municipal administrator of Banga, Leopoldo dos Santos, this Friday urged rural women to increase agricultural production to improve the quality of life of the population and development of the region.
Leopoldo dos Santos, who spoke at the Municipal Rural Women’s Forum in Banga, also called on this layer of society to create small businesses.
I also advise them to organize themselves into associations and cooperatives to benefit from the Executive’s programs to support production, especially in the agricultural sector.
The administrator highlighted the role of rural women in increasing agricultural production, recognizing that families’ livelihoods depend on them.
The forum took place under the motto “Women in rural areas, key to development”
The event aimed to listen to the problems of this fringe of society and addressed topics such as “Rural Women”, “Importance of family farming for the development of communities”.
He also discussed “Agriculture, agro-industry and food”, “Importance of rural women’s participation in cooperativism” and the “National Women’s Development Program”.
In the end, participants recommended improving access roads to facilitate the flow of field products and support for land and technical mechanization to increase production.
The event elected the two representatives of the municipality for the Provincial Rural Women’s Forum, an event scheduled for next November, in Ndalatando.
The event was attended by women from the three communes of the municipality of Banga – Cariamba, Caculo Cabaça and Aldeia Nova.
