Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-governor of Cuanza Sul for the political, economic and social sector, Emília Tchinawalile, reiterated, this Tuesday, in Sumbe, the Executive’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at social protection and improving the quality of lives of families in vulnerable situations.

When speaking at the opening of the Third Provincial Social Action Conference, Emília Tchinawalile stated that the local Government has paid greater attention to families in need, with the implementation of integration and inclusive social assistance programs, with a view to eradicating extreme poverty.

Among the actions, the person in charge highlighted the Local Development and Combating Poverty Program, which has already benefited around 2,634 families in the province, a total of 13,172 people, including ex-military personnel, who are involved in income-generating activities.

Likewise, he highlighted that the “Kwenda” Social Protection Strengthening Program assisted more than 65 thousand families in the municipalities of Seles, Ebo, Quilenda and Cassongue, and in the coming days it will cover Quibala and Conda.

“The provincial government is working to achieve the desired levels of integration and social protection. In this sense, we will continue to promote social transfers, the productive inclusion of vulnerable and at-risk individuals, including participation in different multisectoral actions in the field of comprehensive rehabilitation of people with disabilities”, he added.

Under the motto “Let us strengthen the integrated intervention of social action, aiming to improve the quality of life of Angolans”, during the meeting participants are debating topics related to the protection of citizens in vulnerable situations, the fight against poverty and its effects , community awareness and education projects to change behavior, among others.

Participating in the conference are members of the local government, municipal social action managers, religious entities and traditional authorities.
