Africa-Press – Angola. Anita Paulo Júnior was elected Tuesday, provincial secretary of the OMA, during the organization’s 1st Extraordinary Assembly, thus replacing Ana da Purificação, who ended her mandate due to incompatibility of functions.

Aged 54 years old, the new provincial secretary of the MPLA’s female branch will continue the 2022-2026 term.

In her intervention, the person responsible pointed out the empowerment of women, through agricultural practice, as a priority of her mandate, with a view to reducing poverty within families, alongside the OMA’s continued intervention in the fight against illiteracy within militants.

On the other hand, she called for the unity of the activists and firm support for the party leader, aiming to achieve victory in the next electoral challenges.

On the occasion, the second secretary of the MPLA Provincial Committee, Nelo de Carvalho, challenged the OMA to continue mobilizing women to expand national agricultural production, as well as in the tasks of educating women and children.

He also urged the activists to work increasingly on inserting the OMA into society and bringing the leadership closer to the base, without neglecting the reinforcement of internal cohesion, discipline and ethics.

He said that the MPLA is aware of the difficulties that women face and the socio-economic situation that the country is going through, motivated by the global economic situation, with a direct impact on the lives of Angolan families, and is therefore implementing a series of economic measures that aim to improve living conditions of the population.

Meanwhile, the deputy coordinator of the Monitoring Group of the OMA National Executive Secretariat for the province, Maria Fernanda da Silva e Silva, advised the organization in Malanje to anticipate the challenges, with a view to maintaining the hegemony of the largest female organization of the country, and the region in particular.

He defended internal criticism and self-criticism, with a view to banning all practices that compromise the proper functioning of the organization.

Under the motto “Angolan Woman – Participation, Inclusion and Development”, the 1st Extraordinary Assembly of the OMA was attended by 258 delegates, from the 14 municipalities of the province.
