China supports Angola in international and regional affairs

Africa-Press – Angola. The People’s Republic of China expressed, this Tuesday, in Luanda, its willingness to support Angola’s efforts to play a more prominent and important role in international and regional affairs.

According to the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Angola, Chen Feng, who spoke during the ceremony commemorating the 74th anniversary of the Proclamation of the People’s Republic of China, celebrated on Tuesday, her country appreciates Angola’s active mediation in regional issues .

He reported that China is willing to strengthen coordination with Angola in multilateral affairs, in order to jointly safeguard genuine multilateralism, the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, as well as contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

“Thanks to the strategic leadership of the leaders of the two countries, they have deepened their political mutual trust and traditional friendship,” he said.

On January 12th of this year, he highlighted, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, President Xi Jinping and President João Lourenço exchanged messages of congratulations, pointing out the direction for the development of the strategic partnership of the two countries.

He said that China appreciates Angola’s adherence to the one-China principle and its support for China’s legitimate demands.

According to Chen Feng, his country will always support Angola’s determination to oppose foreign interference, to independently choose a development path adapted to its own national conditions and to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests.

He made it known that China is Angola’s largest trading partner, the main source of direct investment and the main partner in the construction of infrastructures.

On the other hand, he added, Angola is China’s third largest trading partner in Africa and one of the most important suppliers of crude oil for many years.

This year, he said, the major China-Angola cooperation projects have made positive progress, and the two countries’ investment cooperation has made progress, becoming increasingly diversified.

Relations between the two countries have been marked by political and commercial cooperation, but also by exchanges in the areas of culture, education, social communication, youth and women.

The celebration of the anniversary coincides with 40 years since the establishment of Angola-China diplomatic relations.
