Religious leaders reaffirm commitment to peace and well-being of populations

Africa-Press – Angola. The reverends of the Renewed Presbyterian and United Methodist churches, Anderson Luís and António Paciência, respectively, reiterated, this Wednesday, in Sumbe, their commitment to continue working with the local government to consolidate peace and well-being in the populations.

Speaking to the press, at the end of a separate meeting with the provincial governor, Job Capapinha, those responsible were unanimous in stating that religious congregations must contribute to the social harmony of communities.

On the occasion, Reverend Anderson Luís informed that his church has developed several social activities, for the benefit of the population.

Regarding the meeting with the provincial governor, the religious considered it positive, as it allowed him to present some of the institution’s projects, especially linked to the areas of education and the environment.

“We considered the meeting extremely positive, as we presented our concerns to the local government. The Renovated Presbyterian Church has developed several social actions in the region, which is why there is an urgent need to inform the provincial authorities because we are social partners”, he added.

For his part, Reverend António Paciência said that the congregation is committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Christ, which is why, in October this year, they will have another temple in Cuanza Sul.

“What concerns the Methodist Church most at this moment is the issue of evangelization. In this sense, on October 1st we will inaugurate a temple in the municipality of Quibala, more specifically in the commune of Cariango”, he highlighted.
