Africa-Press – Angola. Forty-two craft exhibitors have been participating, since this Wednesday, in the 1st Luanda Craft Fair, which takes place in Praça da Independência, under the auspices of Mbaxi-event.

During the four days of the fair, the presence of more than a thousand visitors is expected, who, in addition to participating in the cultural workshops, will be able to enjoy the exhibition of theatrical groups, dance and folk music.

In the opening session, the secretary general of the National Association of Artisans of Angola (ANAA), Miguel Vinda, expressed the need to create more spaces for the exhibition and dissemination of artistic works.

Therefore, he defended the creation of spaces in hotels, ports, airports and squares, to also contribute to the promotion of cultural tourism.

During his speech, Miguel Vinda said that the Luanda Crafts Fair aims to promote entrepreneurship among artisans, as well as giving greater visibility to artists, in order to value habits and customs through this craft.

For his part, the director of Culture and Tourism of the municipality of Luanda, Domingos Fungo, reiterated the sector’s commitment to working with the association of artisans and companies willing to embrace the cause, in favor of the development of culture and tourism in the municipality. .

In turn, the Administrator of the company Mbaxi-Evento, Sebastião Cassule, said that the event is an opportunity for artisans to exhibit and sell their products, as well as drawing society’s attention to the importance of crafts in the development of cultural and community industries. .

“If crafts are properly valued and artisans supported, it will contribute to the employability of many young people and adults”, he highlighted.
