Africa-Press – Angola. Three hundred and 20 thousand, 881 land migration movements between Angola and Namibia were registered from July to September this year by the Migration and Foreigner Service (SME) in the province of Cunene.
According to the head of Institutional Communication and Press of the SME in Cunene, 3rd deputy head of migration Isomar Matias, of the registered movement, 244 thousand 316 are nationals and 76 thousand 565 are foreigners of different nationalities.
In statements this Monday, he clarified that the movements occurred at the border posts of Santa Clara, Ruacaná, Okalonga and Calueque, with an increase of six thousand 026 cases compared to the previous period.
Isomar Matias mentioned the control of 14 thousand 517 national minors and 387 foreigners accompanied by their respective parents, in both directions.
Foreigners include Namibian, South African, Tswanese, Mozambican, Cape Verdean, Rwandan, Zimbabwean, Zambian, Nigerian and Congolese (DRC) citizens, including tourists, expatriates and residents.
Within the framework of agreements to suppress visas in ordinary passports established by Angola, 11,584 foreigners entered and left.
The spokesperson highlighted that during the period under review, 307 inspection actions were carried out in the six municipalities, with a view to preventing and combating illegal immigration and related crimes, with 106 immigration offenses being recorded.
He stated that the infractions involved 84 Namibians, five South Africans, two Mauritanians, an equal number of Indians and Vietnamese, among other nationalities, and five companies were sanctioned for lack of accommodation communication.
99 fines were imposed for illegal entry and stay, 92 of which have already been paid and seven to be paid, due to alleged financial incapacity.
The person responsible informed that after paying the aforementioned fines, the offenders were forced to leave the national territory, as well as six others expelled administratively and judicially.
The body received 16 national citizens expelled from Namibian territory, due to illegal immigration status, all destined for Cunene.
As for administrative acts, it revealed the issuance and re-issuance of 356 ordinary passports, one thousand and 987 safe-conducts and eight thousand 978 crossing passes for the border resident population.
The body currently controls 602 foreign citizens of different nationalities, 445 with work visas, 72 residents, 56 with temporary stay, 23 convicted and seven (7) detained, as well as 98 foreigners seeking asylum.
The province of Cunene shares a 460-kilometer border with the northern region of Namibia.
