Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade”, recognized this Sunday the commitment of the national Army in guaranteeing national unity and reconciliation and the consolidation of the democratic rule of law.

In a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the land branch of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), the government official stated that, throughout the country’s history, the Army has always positioned itself on the front line.

“It is important to recognize that, throughout our recent history, the Army has uninterruptedly positioned itself on the front line”, he said in the note alluding to the celebration of December 17th.

The minister maintained that the Army knew how to interpret the Nation’s interests, such as the defense and preservation of the territory, national Independence, peace, national unity and reconciliation and the consolidation of the democratic rule of law.

He recalled that the commemoration of this anniversary takes place at a time when the Army saw two more military regions emerge, namely the Northeast and Southeast with a view to having greater operational coverage throughout the national territory.

In this perspective, he encouraged, emphasis must always be placed on the instruction of permanent staff and troops, improving technical-military preparation and developing patriotic, civic, moral qualities and the cult of military virtues for perfect service to the Fatherland.

To the members of the Army, from general officers to sergeants, enlisted men and soldiers, including civilian workers, the minister wished them much success “in fulfilling the difficult, but noble, mission of serving the country, with good health , happiness and prosperity extended to their respective families.”
