Africa-Press – Angola. Around two thousand inhabitants of the Cafuba neighborhood, municipality of Calandula, will benefit from drinking water, with the construction of a small system for capturing, treating and distributing the liquid.
Inserted within the scope of the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP), the works are budgeted at 30 million kwanzas and will last three months, with the first stone being laid by the municipal administrator, Mateus Vunge.
The municipal director of energy and water, AntoĢnio Augusto, said that the system will have an elevated tank with a capacity of 30 thousand liters, with a hole that will allow the distribution of water to four fountains distributed throughout the neighborhood.
The local population was pleased with the program’s initiative, as it will minimize difficulties in accessing drinking water in rural communities.
The works guaranteed employment for 12 local young people.
The municipality of Calandula has an estimated population of more than 100 thousand inhabitants, distributed across the municipalities of Sede, Cota, Cateco-cangola, Quinge and Cuale.
