Africa-Press – Angola. The interim delegate of the Young Brigade of Literature of Angola (BJLA) in the province of Huambo, Artur Agostinho, highlighted the organization’s role in encouraging reading habits and restoring cultural values.
The person in charge, who spoke during a literary evening, to publicize the actions of his patron, the first President of the Republic, António Agostinho Neto, said that BJLA, since its foundation in 1987, has transmitted, with dedication, the ideals and taste by national literature.
He informed that BJLA is developing social reading projects in Huambo in neighborhoods, to encourage young people and children to gain a taste for literature from an early age, in addition to establishing partnerships with local academic institutions, for the application of texts by regional writers in entrance exams.
Artur Agostinho said that these are initiatives that will reinforce the status of the province of Huambo as the main academic region in the country, with a strong focus on reading, bringing back the genesis of the local reading habit.
He informed that the BJLA published three books in Huambo this year, with emphasis on “Lábios da alma”, by the current delegate, Afonso Cachequele Lenguessa, an initiative that the organization intends to continue carrying out, taking into account the number of writers it controls .
The BJLA, founded on August 5, 1987, controls 410 members in the province of Huambo, with public and non-public works.
