Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial commander of the National Police in Cunene, António Ribeiro, praised this Saturday the availability of forces and means capable of guaranteeing the security of the border with the Republic of Namibia.
Speaking to the media about ensuring the festive season, the commissioner said that in recent times, border control mechanisms have been improved with the installation of a closed circuit television system with long-range cameras, which make it possible to observe the movement along the border.
Alongside this system, he mentioned that police work is visible with permanent interventions on horseback, kinesthetics and car patrol.
“Our border is quite extensive, but thanks to the efforts of the Border Guard Police, we have been essentially maintaining its inviolability, safeguarding national sovereignty”, he emphasized.
António Ribeiro requested greater commitment and patriotism from the forces in carrying out the mission.
He warned that any cases of solicitation or bribery could result in disciplinary proceedings, with the penalty of expulsion from the corporation.
The province of Cunene shares 460 kilometers of border with the Republic of Namibia, 340 of which are land and 120 are river.
