Africa-Press – Angola. Israel’s ambassador to Angola, Shimon Solomon, expressed Wednesday, in Lubango, his country’s interest in investing in agriculture and the management of water resources in Huíla, with the use of technology.

The diplomat, who is visiting Huíla for the first time since its accreditation in February 2022, was speaking during a meeting with the vice-governor of Huíla for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Maria João Chipalavela, Maria João Chipalavela.

Shimon Solomon stated that Israel is a country of initiative, as a large part of the territory is desert and still manages to produce, which is why he wants to share this technology with Huíla, with the country and other regions of Africa, so that they can all develop.

He said that Israel can cooperate with governments, especially in the area of agriculture, as an example, he said that the Democratic Republic of Congo sent some people to Israel to exchange experiences, have a little training and observe how their country does things.

“I believe that we can also work in cooperation with the government of Huíla in such a way that when this opportunity opens we select some people who will go to Israel to gain experience and then come and spread it in the province, in terms of agriculture, security, climate and other areas” , continued.

The ambassador stressed that in Luanda they have at least 35 graduates who passed through Israel, they cooperate with the Government of their country and can gain a lot from this cooperation, which is why he hopes that with Huíla it will be better, in order to achieve “great ” objectives.

He highlighted that Israel is a small country with almost no natural resources, but it has created opportunities and technologies to maximize production, a technique that they intend to share with Angola and in particular in Huíla.

One of the techniques that your country wants to share with Angola is the management of water resources, as in Israel it rains for a short time, but it manages to store water for use every year, as well as recycling the liquid for convenient use.

For the ambassador, cooperation in the private sector is possible, through strengthening connections with Israeli businesspeople, and could serve as a link, so that they can work with private agencies to also invest in Huíla, in terms of seeds, water management and other aspects, which already have a certain amount of experience.

Shimon Solomon highlighted that there is already cooperation between the Israeli private sector and the Angolan country, but they want to “increase a little more” ties with the government, so that they can see more collaboration and more Israeli companies investing in Angola.

He reinforced that in these almost two years at the embassy, cooperation between the two countries tends to grow, as more than 10 ministers and state secretaries visited Israel and more than 35 delegations from Israel went in the opposite direction.

In turn, the vice-governor of Huíla for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Maria João Chipalavela, highlighted that the province is essentially agricultural, with great potential in cereals and fruit trees.

He said that it still stands out for its academic training potential, but the interest shifts to professional training and they know that Israel has a special niche in the area that they would like to have greater support.
