Africa-Press – Angola. The second secretary of the MPLA Provincial Committee, Nelo de Carvalho, called Saturday, for the strengthening of the OMA’s mobilization capacity, with a view to including more women in its ranks.
Speaking at the ceremony honoring 26 former OMA leaders in Malanje, which marked the end of the days celebrating the organization’s 62nd anniversary, the politician defended the intensification of work, in order to make the female branch increasingly attractive and stimulate interest from new activists.
On the other hand, he highlighted the need for cohabitation between the old and new generation of OMA activists and leaders in Malanje, so that together they can work towards preserving the founding principles and consequent development of the organization.
In turn, the provincial secretary of the OMA, Anita Paulo, stated that the organization’s activists have always assumed themselves as active agents in the preservation of national independence, peace, consolidation of democracy and economic and social development of the country.
The person responsible encouraged women to conquer their space in society, towards equality and inclusion.
Meanwhile, the honored former directors thanked the gesture and promised to continue making their contribution to the growth of the OMA.
The ceremony culminated with the presentation of certificates of merit and gifts to the honorees, in addition to a celebratory lunch.
The Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA) was created on January 10, 1962.
