Africa-Press – Angola. Forty billion, 609 million and 307 thousand kwanzas were collected during the year 2023, for the State coffers, by the Sixth Tax Region, which responds to the provinces of Cuando Cubango and Cunene, an increase of 41 percent in relation to previous period.

Of the revenue collected, 38 billion, 99 million and 150 thousand 957 are customs revenue from the Santa Clara and Katuiti delegations and two billion 510 million, 156 thousand and 281 tax revenue.

In a statement this Monday,the director of the Sixth Tax Region, Hélio Nzange, said that customs revenue increased by 41%, with 26.99 billion collected in 2022 and in 2023 rising to 38.09 billion kwanzas.

He pointed to the increase in imports of products, associated with the rise in the exchange rate of the main commercial currencies, as aspects that contributed to the increase in customs revenue.

He clarified that at the level of the Katuiti customs delegation, there was a level of execution of around 156%, in line with the recommended objectives, as well as 64% in relation to the same period last year.

The person in charge said that in Santa Clara revenue reached an execution rate of around 138%, representing an increase of 41% compared to the previous year.

Hélio Nzange made it known that the Santa Clara delegation represents 96 percent of the volume of imports and 92% of exports, including various furniture, vehicle accessories, machinery and equipment from the mining and oil sectors, food, among other products..

He added that in terms of exports, the most traded goods were glass bottles, wood, organic agents, copper alloys, plastic utensils, appliances, oil machine accessories, whose destination was the Republic of Namibia and South Africa.

On the other hand, he added that to guarantee control of the quality of goods entering the country, the body works in cooperation with Bromangol, Veterinary and Agricultural and Health Services installed at border posts.

Regarding the fight against tax evasion, he mentioned that there was an increase in tax inspections, with an emphasis on goods submitted in the form of group cargo, joint patrolling, within the scope of the Coordinated Border Management Committee, the verification of processes in audit post – customs clearance and elevation of customs posts.

He also highlighted the “Informal Operation”, ongoing in the country, which aims to combat and repress tax evasion and promote the levels of tax justice.

The Sixth Tax Region controls 17,298 taxpayers with economic activities, of these nine thousand 342 in Cunene and seven thousand 956 in Cuando Cubango.
