Africa-Press – Angola. Registration for the first African Book Biennial to be held, between the 4th and 16th of April, in the city of Huambo, began this Wednesday, with reservations for writers, publishers, actors, artists, public and private institutions.

The information was provided, by the person responsible for the event, Nituecheni Africano, literary pseudonym of Eugénio Afonso Gaspar, when he mentioned that the event, an initiative of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, expects to bring together more than 200 cultural agents and personalities from Africa, America and Europe.

He said that for registration, which takes place in the courtyard of the Huambo Provincial Library and on digital platforms, until April 2nd, writers, publishers, bookstores and institutions, in addition to being provided with personal or institutional documents, must pay a monetary fee of 10 thousand to 15 thousand Kwanzas.

He informed that the event, taking place under the motto “An Africa in peace and without war”, could be held at the “Manuel Rui Monteiro” Cultural Center, in the interior of the city of Huambo, taking into account its tourist and accommodation conditions, for presentation of literary works, crafts, exhibition of performing arts, among others.

Nituecheni Africano highlighted that the first African Book Biennial – Angola 2024, will transform, in 12 days, the province of Huambo into the capital of tourism and national and international culture.

He added that the event plans to address topics such as “Technological diversity and inclusive literature, for a united and war-free Africa” and “Artificial Intelligence”, in addition to bringing together, in one place, theater, dance, music, artists and other performing arts from Africa, Europe and America.

It will feature interactive spaces, such as the “Café Literário”, which will invite renowned African and Brazilian authors, writers and singers, to address current issues.

The Book Biennial is a literary and cultural event that takes place every two years and brings together publishers, exhibitors and various professionals, such as authors and illustrators.

The focus of this type of event is books and also artists, who share their stories, trajectories and creations.
